BEHIND THE LENS

Hello, I am Lidiya and I am so Happy You are Here!

I’m drawn to the quiet beauty of life — the way the light falls and the shadows shape it, how a hand reaches for another, the in-between moments that say the most.

For the past 10 years, I’ve had the honour of photographing hundreds of families in Dubai, telling their stories in a way that feels gentle and personal.

Together, we slow things down, allow ourselves to be present and create images to appreciate, enjoy, and remember with gratitude.

I will be Honoured to Tell Your Beautiful Story Too!

Where Did it All Start?

Lidiya Kalichuk Photography

I’ve never really imagined photography would become such a vital and vibrant part of my life. I’ve always felt a bit uneasy around technology and to this day, I’m still not the most tech-savvy person. So no, I wasn’t the child who always had a camera in her hands, but I became the mother who spent her nights learning Photoshop and mastering the technical skills needed to be a photographer and then, during the hectic and busy days with two young kids, I mastered the more important one - the skill of quietly observing and noticing - the light, the moments, the composition, the elements that make a compelling photograph.

Creative Beginnings

In the years before photography entered my world, I would find joy in drawing, crafting, and creating something meaningful with my hands like drawings and cards, paper craft albums and scrapbooks full of pictures, collages, notes and letters to my kids. To this day, I still appreciate these creative moments and after my cameras, lenses and lights, the boxes full of craft supplies are my most treasured possessions. My passion to create tangible memories is also what’s behind my mission to encourage you to print your photos. No digital product can give you the same feeling as holding a beautiful print in your hands, trust me on this.

I dreamed of becoming an artist and owning a craft studio and while I didn’t quite take either path professionally, looking back, every creative step I took was quietly, steadily leading me to the wonderful world of photography.

Scattered photos of people, landscapes, and outdoor scenes on a wooden surface.
Several printed photographs of a young woman with short hair, taken outdoors and in urban settings, are spread on a wooden surface. A green leather bag is partially visible in the corner.
Four printed photographs of a young boy with brown hair and light skin, wearing different outfits in outdoor settings, are scattered on a wooden surface. A green bag with brown straps is partially visible to the left.

The Art That Led Me Here…

Since 2013, photography has become not just what I do, but how I see my world and the world around me. It’s how I’ve captured the fleeting magic of my own motherhood days and the childhood of my kids, and how I’ve stepped into the lives of hundreds of families, quietly and gently, to help them see the beauty in their lives and preserve it too.

The big picture and the tiny details. The messy hair and the gentle hug. The crazy hand stand in the desert and the dreamy look away. I’ve taken thousands of photos of my own children and loved ones, and just as many for the families who’ve trusted me to capture their stories with care, creativity, and heart.

For me photography is the art to see your story, honour it and capture it in the best way possible. And now I would love to know more about you.
