Maternity Session

a Practical Guide

This session is about more than beautiful photos—it’s about slowing down, connecting with your baby, and honouring the journey you're on.

My goal is to capture not just how you look, but how this moment feels. Try to let go of expectations—of how you should look or pose. The most beautiful images often come from the quiet in-between moments, not the perfectly staged ones.

Preparing for your maternity session

Choose an outfit that feels both beautiful and comfortable. Flowy dresses, soft textures, and neutral tones photograph especially well outdoors or in beautiful home light.

Most importantly, pay attention to the fit. A dress that hugs just right can highlight your belly in the most flattering way. Avoid pieces that are too loose, too tight, or require constant adjusting. Pay attention to your bra and any straps that might be showing.

And a quick tip: your hands will be in focus often—holding your bump, reaching for your partner—so freshly done nails (soft, natural shades are best) make all the difference in those close-up moments.

Hair and make up: We’re aiming for emotive, connection-led images—and heavy makeup can sometimes distract from the tenderness of the moment. A light, fresh look will always let you shine through.

If your other little ones are joining, help them feel excited and involved. Let them know this is a special time for all of you. Talk about the baby, show them past photos, or even let them choose a small role—like kissing your belly or cuddling in close.

You’re always welcome to gently prompt them during the shoot—and I’ll guide with playful, simple direction too.

One last note

The most powerful images come from openness. If you let yourself feel the love, the shift, the wonder of this time—I promise it will shine through.

You don’t need to perform. Just be you. And I’ll take care of the rest.
